1. How do exporters or freight forwarders apply for a Certificate of Origin?

Exporters or their authorized freight forwarders submit shipment and product details electronically through Chamber Certification™. Applications are reviewed by the issuing Chamber and returned as a certified PDF with a QR code for customs verification. New users can register by selecting a participating U.S. Chamber via the map-based directory.

2. What documents are required to issue a Certificate of Origin?

Typical requirements include a commercial invoice, exporter and consignee details, product descriptions, shipment information, and an exporter’s declaration of origin. Some destinations or buyers may require additional chamber-certified supporting documents.

3. How long does issuance take?

Most Certificates of Origin are approved the same business day once a complete application is submitted. Processing times may vary by Chamber and documentation requirements.

4. Are Certificates of Origin issued electronically or on paper?

Most COs are issued electronically with digital delivery. Electronic COs include an ICC-compliant QR code for verification. Paper originals, wet-signed certificates, and documents required for embassy legalization are also available when needed.

5. Do you handle Embassy Legalization or Apostilles?

Yes. We provide full Embassy Legalization and Apostille services for Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices, and a wide range of business and legal documents.

6. Do you support GTM systems or API integration for large exporters?
